As we continue to grow, we are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Production Manager to join our team and play a pivotal role in bringing our projects to life.
Role Overview:
The Production Manager will oversee and manage the production and project management aspects of The Golfer’s Journal, including print production, prepress, sponsor and contributor coordination, and various print and digital projects. This individual will ensure deadlines are met, workflows are optimized, and the highest quality standards are maintained.
Key Responsibilities:
Print Production & Prepress
- Work with the editorial team to ensure production deadlines are met.
- Build the storyboard for each issue of the journal.
- Review art files and prepare them for color proof production.
- Coordinate text and image corrections.
- Liaise with overseas printers for press proofs and bluelines.
- Create purchase orders and manage production schedules for each issue.
- Oversee freight logistics, ensuring shipments are delivered
- Export archival files, images, and text for digital feature builds and archival purposes. • Create and organize editorial projects, tasks, and deadlines in Asana.
Sponsor Management
- Communicate print specifications and deadlines with sponsors.
- Collect sponsor creative assets and ensure they are print-ready.
- Coordinate the production of color proofs for sponsor creative as needed.
Contributor Coordination
- Work with the editorial team to collect contributor agreements.
- Send agreements to contributors and manage contributor information across databases
- Build and manage the buyout sheet for each issue.
- Coordinate payouts for contributors and ship copies to contributors and non-contributors.
- Submit invoices for image usage
Print Shop & Miscellaneous Print Projects
- Manage customer and event-related Print Shop orders.
- Upload and maintain Print Shop listings on the site.
- Handle quoting, sampling, production, and prepress for marketing assets and additional print projects (e.g., stickers, postcards, envelopes, renewal marketing materials).
Image Editing
- Perform color corrections and file exports for issue releases, merchandise launches, and marketing campaigns.
Qualifications:
- 3–5 years of experience in production management, project management, or a related role, ideally within publishing or a similar industry.
- Proficiency in project management tools such as Asana or similar software.
- Familiarity with prepress processes, color proofing, and file preparation for print.
- Strong organizational and multitasking skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Exceptional attention to detail and commitment to quality.
- Experience with Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator) preferred.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Familiarity with print and digital media workflows is a plus.
