Babe Zaharias, who had already made a name for herself barnstorming across the country on professional baseball and basketball teams, fully captured the nation’s attention at the 1932 Summer Olympics when she earned gold medals in javelin and the 80-meter hurdles. Then she took up golf, helped to found the LPGA and grabbed 41 wins on that circuit, including 10 majors. It inspired photographers to see what she would look like in other sports, leading to this series of shots from 1932 to 1934.
