The release of No. 20 marks five years in business for The Golfer’s Journal, and every good milestone deserves a killer party. Friends, guests, and Members of the Broken Tee Society gathered for a celebration on Thursday, June 23 at the brand new Metalwood Studio in Los Angeles. And while Philly resident/TGJ Senior Editor Tom Coyne won the prize for longest commute, it was the local L.A. crew who showed up, showed out and spilled into the street. Five years ago, stopping traffic on La Brea Ave wasn’t part of the plan.
Those in attendance enjoyed a behind-the-scenes look at the making of No. 20, refreshments courtesy of Golden Road Brewing, tasty eats from The Lobos food truck and free club re-gripping thanks to Golf Pride.
Much like the folks who walked through Metalwood’s doors on Thursday, TGJ No. 20 offers a host of disparate perspectives on our game. Meditations from a sojourn in Scotland to mourn a son give way to musings on one of life’s toughest questions at Pine Valley; a Tom Doak epiphany at Tara Iti precedes the story of a lifelong dream achieved at Southern Pines. And of course, cover artist Henry Taylor turns his celebrated eye to golf.
