…or so the story goes. This is Ireland, after all, where the only things taller than the tales are the dunes. Since 2016, TGJ Editor Tom Coyne has organized the Coyne Cup, shepherding a rotating flock of golf seekers through some of the world’s greatest links courses. Now, The Golfer’s Journal is thrilled to partner with CoyneGolf on the 2025 Coyne Cup, featuring six of Ireland’s top-tier clubs. The tenets of the Cup are simple: Fun golf. Rare golf. Friendly golf. Fierce golf. It’s a credo that fits the Broken Tee Society like a premium leather glove, and indeed, only Premium members are invited to enter the lottery for this Ryder Cup-style event.

Killarney
Arrive Shannon airport where Tom Coyne and driver will meet you at Arrivals. Board the coach and make the short drive to Killarney to begin your five-night stay at Great Southern Hotel, ideally located in the heart of one of Ireland’s most bustling towns. Guests can play an optional opening round at Killarney Golf & Fishing Club, which plays around stunning lakes and boasts wide mountain views (first-day golf supplement $245). Enjoy an opening dinner at the Great Southern where captains will make their picks and draft their teams for the next five days of better-ball competition.
October 1
Waterville Links
Enjoy a ride along the scenic Ring of Kerry before you arrive at the celebrated Waterville Links for your first day of Coyne Cup action. Regularly ranked among the best links in the world, Waterville is an easy favorite for visiting golfers, featuring water on three sides and just enough space to kindly welcome you to links golf. Stay at Great Southern and explore the restaurants of Killarney that evening.
October 2
Tralee Links
After your full Irish breakfast, depart for Arnold Palmer’s renowned Tralee Links, where Palmer was said to remark that he could take credit for the front nine, but all credit for the back goes to the Almighty. You will traverse holes at Tralee that are straight out of a dream. Play hard, then relax with a night on the town in Killarney.
October 3
Ballybunion
After catching up on where the Coyne Cup team tallies stand, head north for golf at the granddaddy of Irish links: Ballybunion Golf Club. Ballybunion ranks as one of the world’s best links courses and after visiting, you’ll understand why. Enjoy post-round pints overlooking its massive dunescape and report your points to the scorekeeper…hopefully the Cup is still within reach.
October 4
Dooks
Get ready to fill up on merch at Dooks, home to Ireland’s best logo: the local natterjack toad. Fortunately, the golf is even better than the mascot. With water on three sides, Dooks is a sleeping gem of a links and a shorter, more forgiving loop where you can lick your links wounds and perhaps earn a couple points for your captain. Enjoy an evening on the town in Killarney, where you’ve no doubt got a favorite pub by now.
October 5
Lahinch
Lahinch Day. Soak up the Irish St Andrews, host to the Irish Open and the 2026 Walker Cup. Sample the rare Dell and Klondyke holes on a course shaped by Old Tom and Alister MacKenzie. Play hard, as it is your match that could decide this year’s Cup. Enjoy a closing dinner in the clubhouse at Lahinch, where the winning side will drink deeply from the Coyne Cup, and that year’s most valuable Linksman or Linkswoman will be given the cup to take home for the year. Head for Adare that evening and stay in the Dunraven Arms in one of Ireland’s most charming villages.

Registration Rules
- You must be a TGJ Premium member to sign up for BTS × Coyne Cup.
- Members can place reservation requests from August 3 to August 7 at 9 a.m. ET.
- You may request up to four spots, but all guests must be active TGJ Premium members.
- Singles are encouraged to place reservation requests. Singles will be randomly paired with groups.
- Submitting more than one request will not increase your chances of being chosen. Duplicates will be removed.
- Entries must be paid within 24 hours of receiving the notification email to avoid forfeiting your position in the event.
FAQs
How many spots can I purchase?
You may request up to four spots, but all must be active TGJ Premium members before registering.
Does my guest have to be a member?
Yes, all guests must be active TGJ Premium members. The best way to bring a non-member guest is to gift them a TGJ membership.
Absolutely!
Can I request to be paired with another twosome?
Absolutely, but as we are playing a Ryder Cup style competition, foursomes and pairings will change over the course of the trip, giving you a chance to meet and play with new friends (matches will be kept as close similar handicaps as possible).
Are there handicap / skill requirements?
All skill levels welcome, but a USGA handicap index is required. Links golf in Irish conditions can be challenging, so this might not be an ideal itinerary for a beginning golfer.
Can I bring a significant other that won’t be golfing?
Yes, we have roughly six spots available on the coach for non-golfers. We are not offering specific activities for non-golfers, but tours and day-trips are easy to book out of Killarney.
The non-golfing guest rate is $2595 and has limited availability.
How much does it cost to play Killarney the first day?
The first day golf at Killarney is optional and is $245.

What airport should I fly into?
*Please book an arrival into SHANNON AIRPORT. Guests who fly into/out of Dublin are responsible for their own transport to/from Killarney (train and rental cars are an option).
What is not included?
Airfare, caddie fees (and tips), meals other than opening and closing dinner, pints. Opening round at Killarney optional (depending on interest and your flight schedule) and not included in package price.

Pricing is per person. 50% deposit down at registration, 50% paid 6 months out. Refunds will only be permitted if the spot gets filled. Refunds will be given the amount, less 5% processing fees.
