Hacienda Golf Club
March 17, 2025 | La Habra Heights, CA
ENTER THE LOTTERY
Hidden in the Hills
Before designing Harding Park and both courses at The Olympic Club, William Watson spent the early 1920s artfully draping Hacienda Golf Club’s 18 holes across the canyons southeast of Los Angeles. Both the architect and the club remain below most golfers’ radars, but local elite amateurs can recall each of Hacienda’s sinuous doglegs and fiendishly pitched greens with ease. SoCal championships are won and lost here among holes that echo Riv and Bel Air, and with course record holders including Gene Sarazen (70, 1923) and Tiger Woods (62, 1994), the club remains a staple in the region’s golf landscape. This March, join the Broken Tee Society at one of the hidden Treasures of California golf.

What is a Horse Race event format?
Qualification for the Horse Race
The Top 10 Net scores will advance to the Horse Race. In the case of a tie for the 10th spot, a scorecard playoff will determine the final qualifying team(s).
Event Format
The Horse Race will be played in Gross, Alternate Shot format. No pops will be awarded during the playoff.
Tees & Play Structure
We will play from the same tees as the tournament 18, and partners will tee off from either the odd or even holes within their team. Be mindful: in this format, the last player to hole out will not carry over to the next alternate shot.
The Horse Race
The race begins on Hole #1, where the top 10 teams will face off in an elimination-style competition.
-
Hole #1: Eliminate 3 teams. A Blind Chip-Off for any tying teams to advance.
-
Hole #2: The top 7 teams move on, with 3 more eliminated. A Blind Chip-Off for any tying teams to advance.
-
Hole #6 (Par 3): The final 4 groups battle it out, with the bottom 2 teams eliminated. A Blind Chip-Off for any tying teams to advance.
The Championship Hole
The Championship Playoff takes place on Hole #9, where the last two remaining teams will face off for 1st place.
Good luck to all participants—this will be a test of nerves, precision, and teamwork. Play smart, play steady, and may the best team rise to the top!

Pricing is per person. Refunds will be processed once the spot is filled, minus a 5% processing fee.
