The Desert is Calling

Two years ago, we introduced 80 Broken Tee Society members to Rams Hill in Southern California’s Anza-Borrego Desert. This spring, we’re heading back with a bigger crew for another dance with this desert rose.

About Rams Hill Golf Club

Looking at it now, you’d be hard-pressed to find where the original Rams Hill Golf Club began and ended. This once-private Tom Fazio design opened to great acclaim, but soon surrendered to the financial crisis, and, eventually, Southern California’s Anza-Borrego desert. It was just eight years ago that the sprinklers were turned back on, breathing new life into a golf course that has risen to be regarded as one of California’s finest public offerings.

With the benefit of time and top-notch care, Rams Hill has returned to full flower. Swaths of pure turf interrupt sand, shrubbery and strategically placed bunkering, while the rocky desert throws each manicured blade of grass into sharp relief. Best of all, the course is ours for the day featuring a 27-hole multi-format tournament.

Relive our 2021 Outing

Good vibes and great stories collided the last time we ventured out to Borrego Springs. Like those of Luis “the Tuna” Sanchez, who traveled solo from Mexico City to join the fun; and Minnesota’s Patrick Jacobson, escaping the cold to jar an 80-footer as the warm winter sun set over the mountains. See the full recap and photo gallery here.
