Scotsman Willie Locke built Lake Merced Golf Club in the heart of San Francisco in 1923, but the course began to make waves after a 1928 redesign by Alister MacKenzie. A growing city, and a shiny new highway, led to a 1964 redesign that stunted this onetime gem.
For the past 18 months, Gil Hanse has been hard at work restoring Lake Merced to the course that the Good Doctor ordered. As expected, the golf world is highly anticipating this Hanse/MacKenzie collab. And the Broken Tee Society has been invited to be among the first to play it.

Schedule
- 7 to 9 a.m.: Check in
- 9 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.: 18-hole tournament
- 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.: On-course lunch
- 2:30 to 4:30 p.m.: 9-hole free play
- 4:30 to 5:30 p.m.: Cocktail hour & putting contest
- 6 to 8 p.m.: Dinner & awards

- There are 100 spots available for TGJ members.
- Members can place reservation requests from 9/21 @ Noon ET until 9/28 at 11:59 p.m. PT. Simply follow the on-screen instructions by selecting the number of guests in your party and entering their information.

- The field will be decided via random drawing on 9/29, and winners will be notified via email.

REGISTRATION RULES
- You must be a TGJ member to sign up for The Showcase @ Lake Merced.
- You may request up to four spots, but all guests must be active TGJ members.
- Singles are encouraged to place reservation requests. Singles will be randomly paired with groups.
- Submitting more than one request will not increase your chances of being chosen. Duplicates will be removed.
- Entries must be paid within 24 hours of receiving the notification email to avoid forfeiting your position in the event.
How many spots can I purchase?
Members are permitted to purchase one foursome each.
Does my guest have to be a Member?
Yes, all guests must be active TGJ Members. The best way to bring a non-Member guest is to gift them TGJ.
Yes, you will be paired with another single at random.
The format is two-person better ball, net and gross. One low score per team will be counted per hole. Teams may not win both gross and net categories. In the event they do, gross scores will take priority.
Can I request to be paired with another twosome?
If you have another person or team you’d like to be grouped with, please submit the request on the Guest Details form on the Players Room following your purchase.
Are there handicap / skill requirements?
Players of all skillsets and handicaps are welcome to register. We only ask you are respectful, have fun and keep up with the group ahead of you.
There will be double-bogey max scoring in place.
Following completing registration you can request a caddie in the Players Room on a first-come, first-served basis, subject to availability.
Can I schedule a practice round?
Lake Merced is a private club, and we cannot accommodate any practice rounds.
What is the cancellation policy?
In the event you need to cancel, you will be refunded the full amount minus processing fees before December 1, 2022. No refunds will be given after December 1. Spots are transferrable in the event of last-minute cancellations.
We accept all major credit cards, PayPal and payment plans through Affirm.
